A legacy that began with the great Loren Woods and has become synonymous with the leap to the NBA for Bradley Beal Elite alums has now reached the next generation.
The annual McDonalds All-American team was announced this week and JJ Andrews has joined the fraternity as the 10th BBE player to receive the distinction.
“We’ve been waiting and working for this my whole high school career,” Andrews told Fox 16 after the announcement. “I’m definitely thankful for the other accolades that came with it and just knowing that I made it to this level. Everybody was celebrating.”
JJ joins a group that includes only the most elite of the Elite and all nine previous BBE McDonalds All-Americans have gone on to shine in the NBA. Most recently teammates Brandon Miller and Nick Smith Jr. were honored and both now are contributing at the NBA level, as are Caleb Love, Darius Garland, Jayson Tatum and of course Brad Beal himself. Before Brad, there was Tyler Hansbrough, David Lee, Larry Hughes and of course Woods.
“I got to play on the EYBL Circuit and those are some of the best in the country. That’s honestly, to me, the best Circuit in the world, just being able to play against [that level of talent] and playing with them, it only makes me better,” Andrews said. “Iron sharpens iron.”
