One of the best high school point guards in the nation, Trey Pearson is headed to High Point.
Pearson, who is entering his senior year at Pope John Paul II HS in Hendersonville, Tennessee, announced on Wednesday that he is committed to the reigning Big South Champions as they look to continue to build on the first NCAA Tournament bid in school history. The Bradley Beal Elite alum had a ton of interest, including from his father’s alma-mater Murray State, but ultimately decided that he wanted to be a part of what High Point is building in North Carolina.
“I had some great options with some great coaches recruiting me down the stretch,” Trey said. “My main goal was to go somewhere where I could make an immediate impact. I believe that is High Point.”

High Point is coming off a second consecutive excellent season, has accumulated 56 wins in the last two years, back-to-back Big South regular season titles, and a Big South tourney title and NCAA bid last March. A month after the season concluded, the reins of the team were turned over to a new head coach — Flynn Clayman, who Trey is thrilled to have the opportunity to play for.
“I think my style of play fits well into Coach Flynn’s system,” he told 247Sports. “After coming off of a few successful seasons, I think the program has some great things going for itself and will be a high-level contender in the coming years.”
Trey is not stranger to being a high-level contender. His play at the point was crucial to lifting Bradley Beal Elite to a Peach Jam 16U title in 2024 and a Peach Jam 17U title in 2025. He brings unique court vision, a never-say-die attitude and elite playmaking to High Point.
“Coach Flynn and his staff value the way I play the game and the fact that I am a winner,” he said of how he will impact the program. “They felt like I could come in and play right away. At the point guard spot, they think my ability to get downhill, my decision making- specifically in the pick and roll situation, my passing ability, and my defensive toughness will be valuable to what they are building.”
