The third stop on this summer’s Nike EYBL schedule brought Bradley Beal Elite to Memphis, Tennessee for Memorial Day weekend, and impressive performances at all levels allowed BBE to leave Memphis beaming.

BALANCED EFFORTS LEADS 17U

The 17U team won all but one of its matchups in Memphis, leaving with four wins (including a forfeit). In the opener, a 74-71 victory over Team United, they were led by Jadis Jones, who tallied 17 points and Lathan Sommerville’s 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. Tyler Tanner added 11 points and five assists and Dallas Thomas scored 10 points in the win.

Game two of the weekend on Saturday evening produced the only setback of the session for 17U, a 70-65 defeat at the hands of Phenom University despite 13 more points from Thomas and 10 each from Jones, Sommerville and Jordan McCullum.

However, BBE bounced back on Sunday. After a forfeit in the morning gave them a reprieve until the afternoon session, and they used the rest to come out of the afternoon with their biggest win of the weekend, a 77-64 victory over NJ Scholars. Jeremiah Fears led the way in that one with 18 points and seven assists. Four other players scored in double figures including Dallas Thomas with 14 and three others (Jones, Sommerville, Tanner) with 10 each. Tanner also had seven assists and four steals and Jones grabbed four steals as well.

The 17S finished the session on Monday morning with a nail-biting 69-67 win over Team Thad. Tyler Tanner was the high scorer with 16 points on 6-of-11 and also tallied five assists, five rebounds and three steals. Sommerville scored 13 points and pulled down seven boards, and Thomas finished a great session with 11 more points.

TREMENDOUS TRIO KEYS 15U TO THREE WINS

The 15U team shined early and made it all the way to the Platinum Championship game where they finished runner-up to Vegas Elite.

They began the session with a massive 86-54 victory over Team Thad on Saturday morning. It was a banner day for three of the team’s stars. JaShawn Andrews scored 18 points and added nine rebounds, Jaylan Mitchell gave them 18 and 8, and TySeanDre Edwards posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

The second game on Saturday was a much tighter game, but thanks to 25 points from Mitchell, BBE grabbed a 59-58 victory over NW Rotary Rebels.

On Sunday, it was Andrews’ turn, as he scored 20 points on a perfect 8-of-8 from the field in a 76-69 win over Team Durant. Andrews also grabbed seven rebounds. TySeanDre Edwards tallied 14 points and Jamison White added 12 points in the win.

That victory pushed BBE’s 15U squad into the championship on Friday and despite 16 points and six rebounds from Andrews and 14 points and 11 boards from Edwards, they dropped the finale 73-59.

For the weekend, Andrews averaged 15.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, Mitchell had 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and Edwards finished with 11.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
